At Services For Education, we believe that the ensemble experience is absolutely crucial to any high-quality musical education.
That’s why, every year we bring together over 2,000 young musicians from across Birmingham, to form over 70 ensembles, which are free to join, and are specifically designed to cater for all genres and abilities.
We run two types of Ensembles in Birmingham; Central Ensembles which require an audition and Area Ensembles which do not.
It is free to take part in our Central Ensembles, but children will be required to audition.
Our ensemble members are nurtured and supported by skilled professional tutors and conductors, developing their confidence and musical abilities.
Members will also take part in memorable performances on the stages of Birmingham’s most prestigious venues, celebrating their musical achievements to packed audiences. These groups also regularly represent Services for Education on the Regional and National Stage.
All our ensembles serve as an extension to weekly instrumental/vocal lessons and school music making. By joining one of our groups your young musicians will be representing your school at city level.
Please see the full list of Central Ensembles on offer here . Membership of our entry level Central Ensembles is gained by attendance at one of our workshop sessions as well as preparation of audition material which can be found here.
Workshop sessions will be held when it is safe to resume rehearsals in the autumn term. Once registered, we will be in touch with details of the workshop sessions once scheduled.
How to apply…..
Our IT team have been working hard behind the scenes to build a new bespoke Ensembles Portal for us. This is a completely new system that is user-friendly and will be a one-stop-shop for everything ensembles related moving forward.
As it’s a completely new system everyone will be required to register for a new account. If you have an existing account with SFE we have ported your old account information across, so it is essential that you register with the same email address that you have previously.
Whilst it’s not a complicated process, we are keen to help guide you through it for the first time. We have created a video to walk and talk you through everything you need to do to register correctly for all our Central Ensemble activity in 2020-21. Please do watch it as we hope it will answer many of your questions.
Feel free to share this information with your parents and pupils.
