A free twilight CPD event for secondary school music teachers with a focus on how to deal with ‘Challenging Behaviours’ on Tuesday 5th March 2019 at The Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).
In previous years, the twilight events have been very popular and following the success of the recent Music Education Conference in January 2019 we would like to explore an alternative format for this twilight.
4:00-5:30pm – Challenging Behaviours – Phil Mullen
5:30-6:30pm – Buffet Dinner / HUB and Teacher Networking
6:30-7:00pm – Performance by SWITCH – Inclusive Music Ensemble based at Mac Makes Music
Objectives for delegates:
- Explore how to engage children and young people who display challenging behaviour.
- Looking at case studies which demonstrate the positive outcomes, particularly on psychological wellbeing, when children are enabled to fully participate in music making.
Outcomes for delegates:
- Have a better understanding of the reasoning behind why children and young people can be disengaged and marginalised.
- Feel more confident in dealing with challenging behaviour in secondary music lessons.
