This project provides pupils with an opportunity to explore the magical world of The Firebird – a traditional Russian story that influenced a famous ballet with music by Stravinsky.
CBSO violinists Bryony Morrison and Charlotte Skinner combine storytelling with an interactive live performance before leading the children on a creative composition workshop inspired by the music from the Infernal Dance from Stravinsky’s ballet score.
This project provides pupils with access to high quality performances by members of the CBSO in addition to the creative workshop element of the project.
Charlotte and Bryony will work alongside pupils to develop an original creative work inspired by the Infernal Dance, utilising instruments that pupils are already learning, and/or tuned and un-tuned percussion available in school.
They may also include an element of song writing, supporting pupils’ creative writing as well as composition skills.
Each workshop concludes with an informal sharing with pupils showcasing their creative work with the rest of the group – or wider school community.
Each Firebird workshop takes place across a school morning or afternoon and is designed to work with one Key Stage 2 class (c. 30 pupils).
A Firebird workshop costs £300, to book your visit or for more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0121 616 6522.
